So I think it definitely goes without saying that Usher and Michelle were the best coach/contestant pairing since....well, ever. How do you guys think she would have done with another coach, like Adam or Blake or Christina? |

If I had to choose a different coach for Michelle I would definitely pick Blake. Blake forms a special connection with his contestants each season that I never see the other judges do (well until Michelle and Usher). I can maybe even see her connecting with Shakira but I'm just can't really see her having a very strong relationship with any of the other judges. Although Michelle is amazingly talented, I think Usher kind of played a key roll in her success on the show by making her go outside of her comfort zone yet at the same time encouraging her to be true to herself throughout the process. NOT saying that Michelle wouldn't have been herself or wouldn't have been successful without Usher (because she is so awesome) but I just don't know how things would have worked out with the other judges.

Of course hindsight is 20/20 but I don't think I would have liked Michelle with any of the other coaches this season. I didn't like a lot of the decisions Shakira made with her artists, she seemed a little too green. Which is totally understandable. I'm sure she learned a lot as time went on, but that could have hurt Michelle.
Even though Michelle initially was really interested in Adam, I think he can kind of push himself on his contestants too often and that may have been tough for Michelle? But he probably would have been my second choice for her, if not Usher.
And Blake, he's a great coach but let's be honest Michelle would not have made it out of the Knockouts alive this season, no matter how talented she is. Just because Blake was so obviously country-focused this time around.
I didn't really watch enough of past seasons to comment on the others, but I did read an article where Michelle said that when she heard about a show where contestants could learn from industry heavyweights like Christina, someone who had inspired her a lot, that's what really got her excited. But I've gathered from others that Christina doesn't really get super invested in her artists -- the complete opposite of Usher. So that might not have worked well either.
