Yea, there are plenty of possibilities here. But I think it's pretty obvious she's not trying to reach as many people as possible..so I just figure it's a treat to hear it..but I'll wait until we start hearing more official stuff before I start spamming different websites about her.  |

Right, I agree about the personal/big publicity split between the two accounts. Might be that she keeps the snippets under TRJ just to get some feedback and then later once it's more rounded out she'll get the word out about the album she's putting together through the MC account. Also, I should clarify: I brought up the Top 40 thing to explain why I'm unfamiliar with Michelle's methods. I've also fallen in love with so much of what I've heard from Michelle regardless of what genre it is or isn't, I wasn't trying to make a statement about the music itself. What I was trying to get across is that the reason I'm curious about her intentions with the two accounts is that most of the artists I listen to have one channel (albeit on multiple platforms) to get their message out and then promote, promote, promote whereas Michelle is kind of testing the waters and reaching out for feedback on TRJ, seemingly as a precursor to a larger release. But it's really, really cool that she is doing that and that we get to be a part of that process  Oh. I get your point now. Whoops. I feel like it's more of a michelle thing though rather than an indie music thing. |

So excited,but i don't know if I should post a link in the comment section of her MC facebook account.What do you think? Should we advertise? team4eyes and I were actually discussing that on her blog a little bit ago. Given that she's only posted the snippet to her Reverb Junkie accounts (all of which have less than 3,000 followers, individually), we decided that it should probably be kept on the DL for the time being. The Michelle Chamuel social media accounts have 90K (Facebook) and 100K (twitter) followers, so right now, we feel like there's a reason she hasn't shared the snippet on those accounts. Whether it's to make a fun little game out of it (which would be awesome) or whether it's hiding from NBC Universal/some sort of record exec (which is probably more likely), we don't know. Because we don't know, we're going to err on the side of caution with it. Agree, we don't know her reason or reasons. I just assume that she's going to promote it when she's ready. Maybe we could add a thread here-Snippet #1 Feedback, but it's gonna be hard to give feedback on a 23 sec or so tune. |

Don't you think, though, that if some figure in the industry was so concerned with Michelle and what music she was or wasn't releasing, they would probably know about TRJ? I mean it's right on her MC Twitter, she's mentioned it in interviews. Maybe it's not worth speculating about (although it is interesting what she's doing) since might not ever know for sure, but given all her talk about how she was nervous about how the audience from The Voice might receive her new music since it's so different than what she did on the show, and how what she's doing now is pretty experimental in nature I just figured she was keeping these snippets a little more low-key because maybe it takes a little of the pressure off. She knows that these fans are likely to be more invested in her/her music since they've done a little more digging and/or knew of her pre-The Voice so it might be more comfortable to get feedback from a smaller, more intimate crowd first. Anyway, I'm curious about how long she'll balance the two (accounts, Michelle Chamuel and TRJ). At some point, you think it would make sense (and be easier for her and the fans) to have one persona to look to for updates and things, but I did see conversation on Tumblr earlier (that I think was actually the conversation between you and team4eyes that you referred to) about how maybe she had visions of releasing different or certain types of music under each of the two. To be honest, I'm very much a Top 40 kind of girl so Michelle's methods are new to me and really intriguing. I'm curious to see how this all will pan out. Also, sorry for writing a novel. I've just been wondering about this dual account thing and what better place to discuss I actually love the dual account idea. This is just my opinion and I shouldn't be taken as the voice of Michelle, but I feel like she probably wanted her stuff to be known as The Reverb Junkie and have her name out of it. I saw some interview on youtube this morning where she said that she had never planned to have her face known, but it just kind of happened. So I feel like releasing things under Michelle Chamuel wasn't planned, but now that she's out there she wants to keep her more personal TRJ stuff as is and use MC more for the big publicity kind of stuff. Again just my opinion and not Michelle's. (I'm a top 40 person when it comes to non-classical music too, but I really love all of michelle's music. I think she just has that effect on everybody.)  do you know what the interview was called or could possibly post it here? I'm anxious to see new videos that I haven't seen since I've watched every one I can find on youtube a million times! (: |

I actually love the dual account idea. I really think she'll release this upcoming album under the TRJ name, which simply explains why she's not posting it in her MC's accounts. I don't think it has to do with contracts. I also think she'll post in her MC's account once the album is really out.
Wouldn't it be nice to make sure that people know that MC is also TRJ? For some reasons, I want her to make it to the top charts so maybe it wouldn't be bad to post her snippets around the internet under her real name...?

One of her posts/interviews said she wanted to release more music than most musicians do, so she may end up having enough to have seperate albums for "Michelle Chamuel" and "The Reverb Junkie" So on another messageboard for the Voice (Television Without Pity) people are talking about Michelle and if she has what it takes to be a breakout star and if her stuff from before is commercial enough to be successful and that she is anti image while Usher's all about image.....I really want to defend her and tell them all about this plan we think she has. But I don't know if I should just not say anything because she wants us to keep it on the DL. What should I do, frans? I don't want people thinking her music isn't good or that she's not working on music when she actually is. |

Haha, I'm posting there.
I don't think she needs defending, at least I'm not attacking her or anything. I think being anti-image is a positive. The alternative is Justin Bieber.
I mean, I don't know about this theory we have. Let's wait to see if it happens before talking about it.
But I don't know if Michelle really wants to be a "breakout star." I think she'd rather have credibility and creative license. (She's pretty much said that.) And I do think that Usher will help her as much as he can on the path that she wants to take. But she may not want to take the huge star path.
