Inspired by the events of tonight, I decided to start a thread where we can all keep track of the updates that Michelle sneaky little posts via various social media networks. Here's a rundown of today's updates: 1) thereverbjunkie.tumblr.com - screen shot of new track-in-progress 2) Michelle Chamuel Facebook Page - talked about new track, album snippets, posted photo of car with most hilarious front license plate ever 3) The Reverb Junkie Facebook Page - posted artwork that will accompany the aforementioned snippets 4) The Reverb Junkie Twitter - linked to Facebook message
5) The Reverb Junkie Official Website - posted same artwork with cryptic message: "To hear new bits/samples of music in the making, keep your peepers peeled for this image." And that's tonight's update. Keep your eyes peepers keen, fellow frans. It's gettin' a tad devious up in here.

She is so sneaky! Making us work for our daily fix hahaha Ohhh, we definitely have to work for it! It's definitely a race to keep up with all the social media and I thought Twitter was bad enough!

It's adorable that she's sneaky like this right now. But I hope one of the things Usher works with her on is..um..marketing, and how easy access for new listeners is a good thing. Haha.

She's making us "suffer" for the upcoming material! Can wait to see what she and Ush have been up to!

Her cousin has been more active with her fan site so hopefully that will help!
Doesn't she have a publicist? In that Afterellen interview when the interviewer asked that rude question about Usher, her publicist intervened. At least that's what the article said.

She may, or that may have been one of a team of publicists associated with The Voice. It's a tough call because she doesn't seem like the type to want a publicist but she may not be making the call there, she may be contractually obligated if The Voice hasn't let her out of her contract yet.

Yeah, I thought it was strange because she doesn't seem like she would actively want to have a publicist. It must be a contractual thing.
BTW, I love that Michelle reads and responds to some of her Facebook wall posts! I hope she responds to one of mine one day

I'm almost surprised she went along with it, except that she seems like she really did want the learning experience and probably didn't except to make it all the way to runner-up status. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if that's why she's being so sneaky, though. It seems like it's kind of worth noting that she didn't say anything about audio snippets on her @michellechamuel twitter account, the one she had to start for The Voice.

She only used the artwork on her TRJ social media accounts and on her Michelle Chamuel facebook was much more vague about future plans. I wouldn't be surprised if she's been "advised against" releasing music so soon and is just going to do it anyway. #rebelstatus

Along that lines, I wonder if she's planning on releasing music from her name "Michelle Chamuel" and from "the Reverb Junkie." The Michelle stuff being more "official" and the Reverb Junkie remaining in the hide and seek/scavenger hunt vein.

Mercfan3, I think that would be really cool! Josiah and I think the Swons have released music since the Voice so I don't think they're actually not allowed to. Either way, I'm very excited for her new music!!!

I'm not surprised about Josiah, considering where he finished. He was probably let out of his contract immediately following the finale. A lot of the lower place finishers (Vedo, Cathia, C. Perkins, etc.) released new music like, the very day after the finale results show aired. Many of them (like Holly with the Southern Baptist Convention) were already making performance commitments as well. It's a bit surprising that the Swons have put out new stuff, since they were in the finals. I haven't looked it up or anything, so I don't know if it's new new or old new. With Michelle being the runner up and having a pretty solid fan base, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out NBC Universal is trying to hold onto her for awhile, since they have first right of refusal. At the same time, I'd bet anything that they're not really paying any attention to The Reverb Junkie accounts. I posted to tumblr earlier with the comparisons between her official Michelle Chamuel social media accounts vs. The Reverb Junkie accounts and the difference is staggering.

First thing I noticed- the MC Facebook has 93,000 likes while TRJ only has 2,300! But I see what you mean, the Michelle Chamuel is more professional or official, but that can work if she wants to release one type of music under each name.

Don't know why TRJ gets less followers, I guess maybe people don't know about it. =/

Remember that interview she did where she said that she was a little nervous about releasing music because it wasn't exactly what people were used to? I think that this is the disparity she was anticipating in the way that strictly Voice viewers respond to her music vs MDD/ER fans respond to new stuff. I think that if more people took the time to look into her career pre-Voice they would love it.

I don't know where else to ask this but remember when she had that interview in the skybox and said someone wrote on her facebook wall and said they started to be kinder to people because of Michelle's performance? Does anyone know what the post said or have a screenshot of it? I wish there was a way to tag people here because I'm sure one of our awesome moderators might know

So excited, but i don't know if I should post a link in the comment section of her MC facebook account. What do you think? Should we advertise? team4eyes and I were actually discussing that on her blog a little bit ago. Given that she's only posted the snippet to her Reverb Junkie accounts (all of which have less than 3,000 followers, individually), we decided that it should probably be kept on the DL for the time being. The Michelle Chamuel social media accounts have 90K (Facebook) and 100K (twitter) followers, so right now, we feel like there's a reason she hasn't shared the snippet on those accounts. Whether it's to make a fun little game out of it (which would be awesome) or whether it's hiding from NBC Universal/some sort of record exec (which is probably more likely), we don't know. Because we don't know, we're going to err on the side of caution with it.

I agree, that's the right way to go about it.
I don't know whether she's really that nervous of Universal/NBC...as let's all be honest..if she's signing with someone..it'll be Usher (who is an extension of Universal..but it's not like he's going to sue her..). What I do think is that she's just giving hardcore fans a little gift while the legal stuff is being sorted.

Don't you think, though, that if some figure in the industry was so concerned with Michelle and what music she was or wasn't releasing, they would probably know about TRJ? I mean it's right on her MC Twitter, she's mentioned it in interviews. Maybe it's not worth speculating about (although it is interesting what she's doing) since might not ever know for sure, but given all her talk about how she was nervous about how the audience from The Voice might receive her new music since it's so different than what she did on the show, and how what she's doing now is pretty experimental in nature I just figured she was keeping these snippets a little more low-key because maybe it takes a little of the pressure off. She knows that these fans are likely to be more invested in her/her music since they've done a little more digging and/or knew of her pre-The Voice so it might be more comfortable to get feedback from a smaller, more intimate crowd first. Anyway, I'm curious about how long she'll balance the two (accounts, Michelle Chamuel and TRJ). At some point, you think it would make sense (and be easier for her and the fans) to have one persona to look to for updates and things, but I did see conversation on Tumblr earlier (that I think was actually the conversation between you and team4eyes that you referred to) about how maybe she had visions of releasing different or certain types of music under each of the two. To be honest, I'm very much a Top 40 kind of girl so Michelle's methods are new to me and really intriguing. I'm curious to see how this all will pan out. Also, sorry for writing a novel. I've just been wondering about this dual account thing and what better place to discuss

I've just been wondering about this dual account thing and what better place to discuss I actually love the dual account idea. This is just my opinion and I shouldn't be taken as the voice of Michelle, but I feel like she probably wanted her stuff to be known as The Reverb Junkie and have her name out of it. I saw some interview on youtube this morning where she said that she had never planned to have her face known, but it just kind of happened. So I feel like releasing things under Michelle Chamuel wasn't planned, but now that she's out there she wants to keep her more personal TRJ stuff as is and use MC more for the big publicity kind of stuff. Again just my opinion and not Michelle's. (I'm a top 40 person when it comes to non-classical music too, but I really love all of michelle's music. I think she just has that effect on everybody.)

Right, I agree about the personal/big publicity split between the two accounts. Might be that she keeps the snippets under TRJ just to get some feedback and then later once it's more rounded out she'll get the word out about the album she's putting together through the MC account. Also, I should clarify: I brought up the Top 40 thing to explain why I'm unfamiliar with Michelle's methods. I've also fallen in love with so much of what I've heard from Michelle regardless of what genre it is or isn't, I wasn't trying to make a statement about the music itself. What I was trying to get across is that the reason I'm curious about her intentions with the two accounts is that most of the artists I listen to have one channel (albeit on multiple platforms) to get their message out and then promote, promote, promote whereas Michelle is kind of testing the waters and reaching out for feedback on TRJ, seemingly as a precursor to a larger release. But it's really, really cool that she is doing that and that we get to be a part of that process
